Stunning Concept Art From The Video Game The Witcher 3 By CD Projekt Red

Established in 2002, located in Warsaw and Kraków, Poland, CD PROJEKT RED was born out of raw passion to video games. The studio’s founders: Michał Kiciński and Marcin Iwiński, both pioneers in video game distribution in Poland in the 90s, decided to employ their gaming industry experience in video game development. Hence, in 2007, The Witcher was born.

More info: The Witcher 3 (h/t: candb)

The game tells the story of Geralt of Rivia, who is a Witcher – a genetically enhanced human with special powers trained to slay monsters. The Witcher contains three different paths, which affect the game’s storyline. These paths are: alliance with the Scoia’tael (also called the Squirrels), a guerrilla freedom-fighting group of Elves and other non-humans; alliance with the Order of the Flaming Rose, whose knights protect the country of Temeria; or alliance with neither group to maintain ‘Witcher neutrality.’

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt concludes the story of the witcher Geralt of Rivia, whose story to date has been covered in the previous titles. Continuing from The Witcher 2, Geralt seeks to move on with his own life, embarking on a new and personal mission while the world order itself is coming to a change.

Dutch Concept for Circular Airport Runways

The Aero-Loop was designer Thor Yi Chun’s proposal for an airport with banked, circular runways. The idea was that it would take up much less space than an airport with conventional runways.

Thor’s proposal was for a design competition some years ago and the idea was never seriously pursued. But now Henk Hesselink, an aviation expert of the Netherlands Aerospace Centre, has proposed a similar concept called the Endless Runway.

Hesselink reckons that with a circular runway, planes can always land in a headwind, altering their point of touchdown depending on which direction the wind is traveling. And in calm conditions, the runway could conceivably be used, he claims, by three airplanes simultaneously. Here’s how it would look and operate:

This McDonald’s Concept Straw Is Mocking Designers

Halfway between my obsession with over engineered mundane products and my hardened vulgar-marxist heart, is an overriding appreciation for satire. And somehow McDonald’s has my number—probably yours too.

Whether you enjoy their disgustingly sweet slurries or shy away from that corporate BS maaan, this new video (and yeah the product) do a great job of nailing the breathy designer videos we love to love. And make.

The straw itself seems like a fun campaign to tap into slick product packaging and design trends while addressing trivial milkshake-straw dilemmas. But the brilliance of the Suction Tube for Reverse Axial Withdrawal is in its willingness to pitch a shot for shot simulacrum of design language at the general public.

I guess that means we’ve made it. Or totally lost it? You tell me.
